First I would ask why you would want to remove the quarter glass? This is not a simple pop out/pop back in job. You have to remove the inside plastic panels to get at three mounting bolts, then remove the nuts. Next you have to cut the butyl mounting bead. Push a length of strong fishing line or similar material through and work around to seperate the butyl sealant bead. I would guess a new glass would be somewhere about £100. About $100 US when I bout one a few years back.

i've been working on fitting a widebody kit to my supe. and in the process of blending the extended quarter panels into the orignals. hence the reason for removing the glass. i have removed the inner panels and the three nuts. been using a blade to cut away at the sealant. but it just does't want to move :(

As an aside - how easy is it to replace the rubber that surrounds the external of the glass? Does it just pull off?

managed to remove glass after spending a good two hours at it :D

the rubber seems to be bonded on the glass itself, so i don't think its possible to remove the external rubber away from the glass.

Thats a shame, if you could remove the rubber id like to know how todo it as mine is looking a bit tatty after 11yrs

That's why I was asking too. I have newer trim around the door meeting some old stuff on the rear qtr. Only a small thing, but really annoys me!

The glass comes with the rubber bonded to it from toyota.

I put a hammer through both and clamed on my windscreen insurance.

£50 excess and slipped the fitter £20 to come back and refit when i had the car painted :) idea!

And for the best bit! The glass is around £300 ...........EACH!

If anyones interested the glass is actually £135 each from Toyota, part numbers are:

May93-May95 Hardtop RH 62710-14260 LH 62720-14260

May93-May95 Aerotop RH 62710-14270 LH 62710-14270

May95-July96 Hardtop RH 62710-14261 LH 62720-14261

May95-July96 Aerotop RH 62710-14271 LH 62720-14271

July96 onwards Hardtop RH 62710-14280 LH 62720-14280

July96 onwards Aerotop RH 62710-14290 LH 62720-14290

RoGuE I think these include the plastic trim around the edge so you have to replace the entire window I'm affraid.

Hope this is of use to someone.
