What has "gone" in your W58?

The trouble with buying second hand is that you can end up with something even worse and you won't really know if thats the case until you fit it.

Needless to say the above observation is not a dig at the club, any of the members or indeed any of the traders. (But I'll say it anyway!)

It may be possible to get yours rebuilt, synchro rings and seals, for the price of an unknown condition used replacement.

If it were my W58 and I was happy that the housings, shafts and gears were in a satisfactory condition this is the route I'd take. A reconditioned box with a warranty, it has to be worth the effort.

whats the going rate for getting synchros replaced etc as these boxes seem quite hard to come by these days.

nice one mate, which company can i use to get the gearbox rebuillt? ive been told by a specialist the shaft on the gearbox is making a noise

According to Nodalmighty (a club member), his engine/gearbox builder will do the job for about £150 plus parts.

I bought a rebuild kit for about £250 from Driftmotion so all in all you are talking in the region of £450 for a rebuilt gearbox.

That sounds reasonable, mine seems good at the moment, though im not expecting it to last after suprapod :D

Martin crawler should make internals like reinforced shafts and gears for the W58 as people seem to break them a LOT.

would give the company good money imo...

PPG do a complete staight cut gear set for the W58.

At about £6,000 it ain't cheap though.
