Some great suggestions on here.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest. Fantastic on every level.

Agreed. Pitch perfect performances from everyone and Christopher Lloyd (??) looks as mad as toast.

I like the old Hitchcock films, and in particular North by Northwest and Vertigo, quite like some of the older films, John wane is a very good but type cast actor, just cant recall the names without looking them up,

I watched John Wayne in 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance' and 'True Grit' recently and was blown away -just forgotten how good he can be. I like Hitchcock but some of them are looking a bit creaky, imo.

Blade Runner - The Final Cut. Excellent film!

Oh yes.

Most of Clint Eastwood's work.

A few hiccups aside I love everything that guy has had a hand in.

Unforgiven would probably clinch the number one spot though.

Love 'Unforgiven', and 'The Beguiled' as well.

For me, it's probably 'Singin' in the Rain' or 'Amelie.' Boundlessly charming and optimistic.

Good choice. I've got Infernal Affairs on DVD and saw Oldboy last year on film 4.

ah but I would most likely say it's the only trilogy of films which each film has progressively built on the last in a good way. I'm too abhorred to try and watch the shambles of the American remake.

I should've added Zatoichi. The original.

As for the mention of Blade Runner, whilst it is a lovely dark film I felt it didn't come across well from the book. Then again (and I am a massive PKD fan with nearly all published works in the loft!) I don't think any of his adaptations have done justice when gone to film. Shame he died just before BR was released as would've been interested to hear his thoughts on it.

Anyone else worried about them also remaking Total Recall?

Interesting. I've had a go at his stuff several times over the years and I just cannot get on with him. I enjoyed 'Blade Runner' much more than 'Do androids dream...?' I quite liked that one of his that was filmed in Rotoscope that had Keanu 'The Plank' Reeves. I think it was 'A Scanner Darkly.'

You are correct regarding A Scanner Darkly. Total recall, minority report, blade runner, paycheck, screamers and next and another film who's name eludes me right now were PkD books. All pants. Even the Woo one - but he's never managed a good English speaking film.

Have you tried reading The Man In The High Castle? It won a Hugo award so it can't just be me being biased :)

Not read that - I don't really read sci-fi any more but I could give it a go. I read Do Androids dream...?, The Man Who Japed, The World Jones Made, Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said and another one I can't remember.
