cje001
All, Just wondering after reading the thread from the chap who`s just bent his chassis a bit... If you crash (not involving anyone else) and its not too bad but you think the insurance may write the car off if you get them involved, can you just get it towed and fix it yourself without informing them? Also, if you crash and someone else is involved, can the other person claim off you, but then you dont put a claim in and fix, or just pay them the cash....? Basically what i`m saying is, if you think its a write off (in the insurance`s eyes) but you would (for whatever reason) prefer to keep and fix it... can this be done? Tyson
Many people do this and the insurance companies prefer it as they don't have to pay out. Not sure on the legalities of it but there are a lot of cars sold as unrecorded accidents for repair.
cje001
Ok... just wondering..... just in case I know how Insurance companies like writing cars off, then stating value is... next to nothing!
Havard
I would like to know if legally you have to tell them if you have a bump. I personally would never claim on my insurance unless I had absolutely no choice. H.

Tyson
My sister has had a few bumps in the car parks, one she ran down the side of an a4 avant and scuffed the rear passenger door. She payed for the respray of the door out of her own pocket as my dad knows a guy who does spray work and the guy was fine with it. Some people will only want to go through the insurance even though claiming off of someones elses insurance increase their premiums as it means they are more likely to claim on their own policy. welshbuddy
Most people only claim for injury purposes, as if you go in back of someine. Whiplash claims is a big part of it, bodywork they usually keep hush! Unless stupid amounts of money are being dealt with
