Exhaust paste

Recommended Posts

I need to re-fix a leaky join on my exhaust due to a cheapo manifold, is there any sort of exhaust paste that is better than the rest, i have fixed it once and it lasted around a month, however the instructions did say to get the exhaust red hot once the paste is on which i dont think i did properly.

Thanks.

Gun-Gum used to be a popular choice. I can't remember the stuff I used, think it was called FireGum?

They are only really any good as sealers though, won't do a great job at patchwork or filling. Would probably be enough to get you through an MOT or whatever, but other than that they will fall off after a short time.

Cheers Scott.

It doesnt need patching its on the join, the flanges dont sit flush so i have used a gasket and paste but now its blowing like a good un, its only really got to last till Mr Whiffin gets the NA manifolds sorted.

Well i pulled the exhaust apart last night only to find the exhaust gasket i put on 2 months ago had been blown to bits, serves me right for buying the cheapest ones i could find off ebay.

I have put another cheapo replacement in whilst i search for a decent one that will last.
