End tank design is simply dreadful, the core will never see an even flow. Avoid...

Anyone interested? I find it hard to believe people couldn't be interested in these unless they've already 'upgraded', they are excellent according to anyone who's ever had one it would seem (including my humble self ). It would be a shame if people got so cheap as to not want quality items like these.

garetheves
What sort of perormance difference are we talking bout with these Chris, as compared to a FMIC. Its someting ive been considering. Mine, cos you prob wont remember is basically BPU but without fuel pump.
Chris Wilson
Impossible to quantify without very expensive testing, so I won't try. The core is more modern, with more tubes and fins,so is better and more efficicent than a new Toyota one, so it will cool the charge more effectively. How much so? Dunno. Compared to a tired original I/C it will be chalk and cheese, intercooling wise, though.

JohnA
.... a bargain or a rip off? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72205&item=7985241003&rd=1 They claim it to be much more efficient than their previous offering (therefore admitting that they do offer items that can be improved upon!) They claim it to be 'superlight' which is nice if you have to ship it from HK, but not so nice when it will heatsoak pretty quickly (as the stock SMIC does) They also claim a much lower pressure drop, which could speak volumes about the efficiency of heat-exchange (i.e. temperature drop) Finally they claim that it effectively reduces turbo lag and widens the power bend, which raises questions about their technical and overall competency
Toms Supra
My SMIC is completly stuffed, hardly any fins remaining lol, they have all gone from the first front row pretty much. I really need one!
JohnA
There are several SMICs up for grabs, from people swapping for FMICs I got one from a 98 model for £50odd. Look around.
