Turbo blown? not sure need advice

My car won't boost over 0.4 bar and it can only boost to 0.4 bar in 3rd gear otherwise it would barely hit positive boost. When the 2nd turbo should kick in i loose all pressure 0 bar (4K RPM+) now i know you will all say check your intercooler piping and vacuum hoses, I checked all that 4 times now, took the bumper off checked everything looks good, I also checked inside the turbo closed too the intercooler and was mint but i could check the other turbo (close too the firewall) any ideas on what this maybe? i mean if the 2nd turbo was blown would i have boost at low rpm? as it feels like a non turbo at the moment barely boosting. Could a faulty wastegate cause this?

Also which turbo is the 2nd turbo? the one near the firewall or radiator side?

Thank you

Went through all this myself a while back. Sounds like the actuator between the Turbos is stuck open and you have possibly blown your second turbo.

To check boot it right up to the redline. If the 2nd tubby is ok you will see late boost. If its not you will see nothing. That isn't conclusive, its just a quick check. Next easy step is to do the quick ttc mod to see what that gets you. If nothing I would say its most likely the turbo.

i decided too take the 2nd turbo out this weekend and have a look at it. If the actuator is the middle is stuck is their a way i could fix it or just get a new one?

If your second turbo had blown, you'd still have a perfectly functioning first turbo. Check the Exhaust Gas Control Valve hose hasn't popped off the actuator.

It's the #1 suspect for the symptoms you're seeing - it partially vents turbo #1 boost to atmosphere when you're under 4000rpm, and means turbo #2 nevers gets exhaust gas flow through it as the EGCV can't open. When the ICV opens up to let the boosted air from #2 into the intake stream, instead the boosted air from #1 goes backwards through it and vents to atmosphere, leaving you with no boost at all.

I just had a quick look everything looks ok except that circle cap on the side of the valve, it slides off very easily and i can spin it around. Is that normal?

That's just a small air filter as those VSV vent to atmosphere :)

Hang on while I dig up a pic of what I'm on about.

Here you go, it's way down there. Check both ends of those two hoses. The VSV is in between them, bolted onto a bracket hanging off the first turbo housing.

This is what you mean right?

Also it might help:

A few months ago i fitted a new filter and the car wouldnt engage the 2nd turbo. I then put my old filter back on and it worked again.

Coming to think about it now was it the air filter stopping the 2nd turbo from working or did i move something on the EGCV?
