Ricardod
Hey, a while back before my NA-T conversion my car allready gave a code 31, and its still there and now i think its causing a LOT of problems. it bogs under 3000rpm, misfires every now and then and runs PIG rich, with a pretty weird rough idleing problem aswell. if i lift of the gas from about 2000 rpm and press my clutch the rpms drop to 400 and go to 1000 and then to 800 and so on fluctuating making me nuts . I do remember sticking a paperclip in the ''air pulsation damper'' just to feel what it actualy was, stupid, stupid idea.... oh well ^^ What i think should be replaced: Map sensor Thingy thats attached to the map sensor and intake manifold (air pulsation damper?) Anny input would be greatly appreciated!
Awisto
Code 31 indicates a fault with the MAF
Ricardod
my car is JDM so its MAP based, does this indicate the MAP is either dead or faulty or i have a short in between the circuit from MAP sensor to ECU? i did do something stupid with the air pulsation damper thats in front of the MAP sensor... (i was wondering if the thingy was clogged so i grabbed a paperclip and started pushing into it lol)
David P
There's a ring earth from/to the ECU to several of the engine management sensors that can cause this 'error' if damaged? Ricardod
i dont get it, could you please explain?
David P
i dont get it, could you please explain? It would be simpler for you to look at an engine wiring diagram and then you might remember if you have been tinkering near anywhere that could have caused this, or to move on and focus your search elsewhere. hodge
Do you have a fuel cut defender fitted. If so odds are it's either faulty or not fitted correctly. I was using a Greddy E01 as a FCD and the car just didn't like it 1 bit. I changed to a regular Thor FCD which fixed it.
Ricardod
Well i measured the voltage to the MAP sensor and its a steady 5V, this is the correct voltage so what do you think may be causing the code 31 besides a faulty map sensor then? I am allready in search for a 2nd hand MAP sensor to see if it makes anny difference and will post it asap. I do have an FCD build in my emanage ultimate which i voltage clamped @ 4.3V all over the entire rev band Thanks for the input, really appreciate it! hodge
Check you Emanage connections on the map sensor wire it may be a bad connection.
Ricardod
will try that after i switched map sensor and ''air pulsation damper''. but the stupid thing is that when i didnt wired up my emanage and didnt even had it i allready had the code! so im still sticking to the fact that my sensor might really be faulty or the ecu is just making a mess of the signals... Ricardod
These are the exact same symptoms the car is giving out at the moment read ''MAP sensor drivability symptoms''. - its bogging and hesitating under 3000rpm - its EXTREMELY rich it looks like its running on freakin coal - sometimes a misfire - rough idle going up and down (its not a patern the rpm's just randomly go up and down) Edited May 28, 2011 by Ricardod (see edit history)
Awisto
My bad, I thought all 2JZ-GE's were MAF equipped.
