If I were to pull the ABS one would, the ABS warning light come on ? As I just had a quick look and the trac and abs seem to be the same so if I swapped them round I would know ones buggered.

Thanks

Si

Just went and tried this and yes it does stay on so swapped the relays round and the abs went off :(, guessing it's to do with the wiring it's self between relay and ECU. Any auto electrician magicians near Bolton way ??

Again Thanks

Si

I find people who work on installing ecus and data logging dashes are pretty good at wiring checking. So how about seeing if Ryan is up for a fiddle with it? At the end of the day checking the wiring is just down to agility, patience, a logical approach, and good eyesight. I fail on most counts.... ;) Howard would put the car on the brake tester and put one of his `scopes on the ABS wires under the bonnet, and confirm clean signals from the front ABS sensors, he could do the same in the boot. That won't tell you if the signals reach the ABS control unit under the radio. If you were to get the connector accessible, yet leave the car drivable, I would have a go at reading the signals on the road, with my scope, if we can find a mutually convenient time. I think you need to be sure all 4 ABS wheel speed sensors are sending clean signals to the ABS control unit first, then go from there. Have you got all the bumf on checking the ABS? I have the OE manuals, but they are for UK / US cars which have different, more sophisticated ABS control.

Thanks mate, I think that articles is of the US forum to be honest in that Pdf it says to check connector/ harness, from what I could tell the relay only goes to the ECU as that was at the top of a pyramid table showing it going relay to ecu to actuator. So the relay either isn't sending out power or just not receiving it at all I think. But the relay is working as I swapped the abs and trac one round.

I just read some more and found this, and now even more confused :help:, .

Just took the bottom of the relay box off checked wires and cleaned with spray, but to no avail, it has several wires going to that relay, if only I knew which one was which more reading I think unless someone can shed some light :).

I would need to have a look at one, will try tomorrow, but I think you need to take the TRAC motor off (4 screws?). If it goes into no start mode you could pull the motor and get someone to manually hold the TRAC butterfly open, and see if it effects an immediate cure. It's problems like this that make my GTS-t such a joy. No ABS, no traction control, no fly by wire, no air con, minimal electrics, and access to current wiring diagrams and manuals in English that match the car exactly, rather than being for a US spec, like the Supra. Rip the damned thing off ;)
