ManwithSupra
Hi All, I am putting the Supra on a bit of a diet (so far i have removed 90.6kg) I still have a fair way to go but for future planning i am looking to move onto removing some weight from the bonnet, wings and rear hatch. The thing is i am not a great fan of the bare carbon fibre look, its ok on some things, like splitters, lips etc but not on the large body panels such as above that is unless it was designed to look like that from the factory. I wanted to know if anyone knew of a company that produces fibreglass versions of the stock items? I can see plenty in CF but none in Fibreglass and as i will be painting these panels i have no need for it to be CF. Can anyone help? JakeG
Fiberglass weighs more than carbon fibre, my fiberglass bonnet weighs more than the original bonnet lol
Dnk
Surely if you trying to save weight then C/F is the way to go and just paint it C/F hatch with plastic window and remove the wiper motor should save a bit, think Paul Whiffin sells the hatches and the plastic window Edited May 27, 2011 by Dnk (see edit history)

ManwithSupra
I knew fibreglass was heaiver than CF but i didnt realise it was the same if not more than the stock parts. I guess CF is the way to go then
Robzki
I find it funny when people cover their cars in fibreglass kits and then go on a search for lightweight wheelnuts

supra joe
Stock bonned is lighter than most carbon. Its the rear hatch you will get your best losses from. Why not try cf doors and interior pannels?.
caseys
carbon fibre then wrap it in the colour of your choice? A friend's method of weight reduction even involved ripping electrics out until his car wouldn't start, then reintroduce bits. Guigsy
Fibreglass bits never look great when painted. They seem to warp a bit. Especialy noticeable on large smooth or flat areas like arches. Bonnets and bumpers seem to escape because due to the shape are quite sturdy or are reinforced with lots of fg, that's why the bonnets are heaver . Supes are aluminium. So prety light already as far as body panels go

Wez
You can save loads of weight in the doors and hatch without going to CF, take a look at Ryan track car build for what he cut out of both
