Westy
Should be a struggle in most cars...never mind a Sup!!!lol!
slugger1
I wonder how many accidents have been caused by people constantly looking at their speedo to avoid going over the limit rather than looking at the road!
ellis
These 20mph zones are usually near or around schools so I'm right with them if that's where they're putting them.

Correct - they're already fairly widespread in and around Dartford, have been for a few years now. I think they've drawn a circle around every major school in the area with a radius of a mile and made every road in that area a compulsory 20mph limit. marc_p
I wonder how many accidents have been caused by people constantly looking at their speedo to avoid going over the limit rather than looking at the road! It is getting rediculous, the amount of near bumps/crashes I have had/seen in those 50 zones is unreal, people are too busy trying to make sure they don't go over 50 that they don't notice the person in front slam on. Attero
This is silly really. I can imagine there will be much more traffic with more 20's around. There will too much concentration on the speed and since there are plenty of people out there who like to only do half the speed limit, it will just be bloody annoying! Josh
I'm all for it around schools. I don't live by any villages anyway so it doesn't affect me..
aman00123
Agree with 20mph around schools as you get kids jumping out etc etc But these ones in the link are to "improve rural safety" not for schools - imo it's a bit excessive but then again I don't actually know the figures for rural speed related injuries...... j_jza80
There's a school at the end of my road, and the speed some drive down here is mental. I would quite like the council to put speed bumps in! Unfortunately, they're not bothered about trivial matters like that, they've just put an envelope rough my door saying they're thinking about introducing parking permits. Next thing will be "we're introducing a modest charge"...
ellis
There's plenty of little schemes going on in Lincoln too. A lot of thoroughfares are being subtley narrowed off which is actually creating more congestion in the town centre and round about. Part of a longer term plan I reckon to suddenly claim that the city is congested and they'll be introducing a congestion charge. They're actually creating the problem so that they can charge us for it at some point. Either that or they'll pedestrianise a lot of the roads in the centre. And once again, we, the motorist, will be blamed and made to pay.
Attero
Totally agree with them setting it all up around schools though!
ripped_fear
We have a 20mph zone in a little town on the island and its a pita in the supra, if I drive over a pedal and tap the throttle a little then that is it, the annoying copper that always sits in the carpark will get me. Ive never known a place like it for driving.
