magictorch
What compound are the Ecsta's? V70a's?
Neil-NA
What compound are the Ecsta's? V70a's? All i know at the moment is that they are ecsta supra 712s i should have them by next week. I think i will be using the Michelins even though the Kumho get a decent review on the internet i will take the advice off the guys on the forum, can always just have them as a spare set of drift tyres, saying that im NA so could probably get away with just using ditch finders

Gaz6002
Chalk and cheese IMO. Michelins are in a different league.

Gaz6002
Goes without saying... they are twice the price. I'd have thought so - but then the question has been asked
aman00123
I run Michelin PS2's (315/30/18) on my BPU and in 3rd gear flooring it they do sometimes loose traction when the 2nd tubbie kicks in but cornering etc they are great, so for an N/A should be great all round imo
Neil-NA
I am getting the tyres for the same price so that doesnt come into it, for some reason i had it in my head that the ecstas were a good tyre but after the response on here i guess not. Michelins will be going on and kumho can sit in the back yard as a nice looking flower pot Thanks for the responses guys.
Thorin
I've never tried them, but I was under the impression the Ecsta's were a decent tyre too (IIRC a member for into the 12 seconds at BPU on them). A budget tyre sure, but there's a lot of snobbery when it comes to tyres, the same goes for the Falken FK-452's. Sure the Michelin are possibly better, but I'm sure they're a lot more expensive too. magictorch
The Ecsta's V70A is a good tyre, they are track tyre similar to R888's.....not sure about the other Ecsta's tho
nigelboyne
ecsta k 31s by khumo dont attept to put these tires on even a na supra i had them on my 2.4 accord not good no grip in the wet and not great in the dry.
Neil-NA
I am 100% just going to put the michelins on as soon as i have picked up my spare wheels.
SilverSoop
I used to have the Ecsta's on my N/A and have to admit, didn't grip all that well and was she was very easy to break traction...even at low speeds. On my TT, I had Dunlop sp9000's...much better tyre. So to answer your question, go with the Michelin Pilot's as Gaz 6002 said, they are in a completely different league
tDR
Not sure if they're still available but I liked the Supra Ecsta 712's I had and managed low 60ft's / decent times over the 1/4 on a set so traction decent. There are a number of Kumho tyre models though, some not so great.
Neil-NA
The Kumhos were the supra but cant remember the exact number, i have also now been offerd some michelin pilot sport HX MXM, after initial reading they sound like a decent tyre, but i believe they may be more of a touring tyre than a performance tyre. Anyone used them? i have the other pilot sport ready to go on but still keeping my options open.

Guest Mike C
Big fan of Ecsta KU31's myself. Have them on my Impreza, which has seen plenty of abuse on track and been fine on the road. Have the same tyre on my daily hack E39 Touring and will have the same on my TT Supra as soon as I revert back to standard wheels. For the money, nothing else comes close for me. Guest Mike C
They were fine on a sub-9 minute run round the 'ring! Car is capable of much quicker, but that was due to my limitations, not the car.
