Keyless start? Is that possible?

I think nearly all the cars with push button start still need a key for ignition.

Not so I have been in many Ford's,Lexus,Buick's,BMW's and Mercs and the transponder stays in the pocket of the owner and they just press the start/stop button on entry and no key is used. Older models such as Maseratis did indeed need a key in the ignition before the start button could be activated which seemed to be a waste of time
