Gerry
It occured to me the other day when I found yet another Safety van (think they are breeding in Wilts) that you bikers have no front number plate. Does that mean that these shity vans cause you no problems ? Would be brill to blast past them over the limit.... Just a thought ..... ! Jake
Dunno, I've never seen a mobile camera unit (touches wood). We don't seem to have them in Hampshire. I've no front plate on my Fireblade or my Supra so I guess it would be the same question
Ian R
can't answer for bikers but I was going down a local dual track and the road angel went off at its usual point but no van so kept the foot down on the loud pedal. Was doing around 115 leptons but to my suprise there was a black vectra estate with a camera sign in front of it and one in the rear quarter window. I have no front no plate( it erm fell off ). Saw the camera pointing in my direction so defo on. That was a month ago and no NIP
BigRoy
I had an interesting chat with a copper who tried to nick me at Box Hill with a forward facing camera van whilst gently riding my bike past him:D He said I was doing 90 in a 50, so I said prove it. He couldnt:D Probably have to stick a full size plate over our visors next!
JohnA
The helmet also makes it hard to prove the identity of the rider (if it ever gets to that stage) Not terribly clean rear plate helps as well. "Safety" vans, yeah right....
Pete
It was raised as descimination against car owners in court once. Someone got done in a car and said it wasn't fair that if he had a bike it wouldn't have captured him. Don't think they got away with it. magicmatty
I think in most of europe and certainly Scotland these cameras are illegal, because it takes away the drivers "basic right" to silence and not disclose who was driving because they can see for themselves... Ive been through a few on a bike and they can only nab you if there is a copper present who pulls you and uses his "gun" as evidence of your speed. The usual, point and record vans have no power to nick because they have no evidence recorded. Also been "let off" NIP's in vans because I "couldnt remember" who was driving that stage of the epic journey we were undertaking at the time !!!!! Animal
Yep, camera vans hold no menace for us bikers, and if you get the front wheel up high enough, GATSOs can't get your rear plate either! One arm, one wheel - no problem! Full Revs Animal
