cloudder
Going to redo my seats, but can't get the head rests off!! Tried pushing, pulling and twisting the cigar shaped plastic buttons between the seat back and the head rest on both seats, but the bloody things won't budge- what am I doing wrong??? cloudder
Just tried it- failed! Am I meant to feel any button through the fabric? I can't fwwl anything but padding?
Scott
It is there mate, you have to push really hard to get it to work. You won't really feel the button, you will just feel the cushioning. First time you are trying it out it's probably best to get an extra pair of hands as I almost punched myself in the face doing it one handed lol. One works the button, one pulls the headrest. They are always stiff to come out.
cloudder
Do you press in, or down?
cloudder
Whooh!! Got the buggers off!! Looking into the holes in the top of the seat there is a release on both spindles. The release is just under the cover, about 10mm out from the spindles. Know wonder they're hard to get off.
DaveR
I'm glad someone else tried this and failed the first time, not because I want people to fail but simply because it makes me feel a bit better about my own failure! With the new knowledge that they're uber stiff, I will try again! I suspect mine have probably been set to the same height for the car's entire 15 1/2 year life, so it may be challenging... ripped_fear
tbh, if you find the guide, and check out the pictures they looks silly when modified to sit higher from the set back, but each to there own.
Robzki
Lol, I'm sure I've got better things to 'fix' before I worry about headrests:) appreciate the info

ripped_fear
Oh. Every day truly IS a school day! I wanted to adjust them for height... Never mind then. if you want to adjust them all you have to do is remove the rest, and cut a couple of small slots into to metal rod so when it slots into place its slots further down the pole thus holding the rest higher, nice and simple! just like a normal head rest on most cars. Gotcha. I may go ahead and do it then. I know, as has been mentioned, that it'll look a bit strange, but at 6' 5" the headrest is more of a shoulder rest for me at the moment! Not to be the prophet of doom but I'm in the same position as yourself height wise. Just to make you aware that with the headrest as it is (a shoulder rest) you run the risk of breaking your neck should someone hit you from behind. Get the headrest sorted out... don't think about it

Robzki
I'm 'quite tall' too, I just use velcro on the headlining and have my hair cut really short. Let us know how you get on modifying them, now that the prophet of doom has spoken I may need to do mine
