Soopra
It's taken a week of me having a Supra for my hubby to realise that he wants something Jap Performance. Please don't ask why but he's looking at 300ZX's... Does anyone know anything about these, what to look out for etc?
skippyboyo1
yes.....the 300ZX looks dated and is lardy,no help at at but just thought id back you up with your thoughts on the whole idea by the sound of things
The Raven
Beat him until he sees sence, i would use the iron if you had to.
tony tt
I had one a few years ago and the supra is far superior. The gearbox and clutch on the 300 is crap. You will struggle to find a decent one.
jonathanc
The idea is tempting... AWD and a V6 Twin Turbo but like everyone else here said, it's hard to find a good one.
The Raven
If he wont buy a supra, then tell him to get an EVO 5.
Lbm
I've heard they can be particularly expensive as and when bits start to go wrong.
shaky
Yes they are crud and there's no room to work on the engine, back end floats all over the pace and the interior falls apart.
Rob_Mitchell
my dad has one they are alright. dont buy a auto, buy as new as possible.
jonathanc
If he wont buy a supra, then tell him to get an EVO 5. Now THAT'S what I call bang for buck Had one love it! Although it wasn't too family friendly ...nor neighbour friendly with the exhaust.

tony tt
Aren't they RWD, some with 4 wheels steering? Yeah rwd with active hicas if it still works that is. I think it only engages after 50 or 60mph

L18msy
I've heard they can be particularly expensive as and when bits start to go wrong. +1, a mate of mine had one. Some of the parts are mental prices. Also his gearbox gave in which i hear can be common.
Supra Gaz
Over-complicated, under powered, expensive to buy bits for (which you will need to do frequently) and next to a supra it will look pants. Try a Rx7 or if he has taste, a Supra himself?
Soopra
He had an RX7 but was scared of blowing it up so he sold it. I was going to persuade him to get a Supra but I think "his 'n' hers" would look a bit tacky...
Guigsy
Soarer. They can look very mean if done right. Or an aristo!

Step away from the 300ZX, there is only pain and misery down that road. H.
barneybrendan
what a booring car to drive.I had a tt auto and i hated the thing after a couple of weeks and wish i still had the rs i traded in for it.I found leg room was an issue unless you like driving with your knees in the air even with the seat right back. AndrewOW
Or an aristo! Same engine, and base, but 4 door saloon. Very nice.
TubbyTwo
Expensive to repair, look dated. Pretty much any engine work and the block has to come out due to lack of room. Prone to oil pressure problems as well. I would be looking at supras or aristos as already said, far better!!
