Leaky steering rack

fastcar

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps as the title says.

I think I heard somewhere that there is a repair kit for the steering rack. Was wondering if it was a pig to fit or should I just buy a new one.

If so does anyone know how much a new steering rack would set me back?

Thanks in advance!

I need to do my rack aswell. Is it at the ends where the tie rods meet the rack? If so i would think you will be able to do it with the rack on the car & i've heard it is handy enough to do. Don't quote me on this though as i've not done mine yet.

its on the ends and on a bolt in the middle i also have a leak on i think what is the power steering cooler on the front of the car. its leaking out of a seal on one of the connectiong pipes. also had one on the power steering vain pump but sorted that with a new seal. looks like the seal are geting tired on the steering side of things but not unexpected on a 18-19 year old car.

was just thinking of getting new one then wont have to worry about it for a while.

might give steve manley a phone see what he can do one for.

Yep just had a chat with steve Manley. He quoted me £1,100 with discount if there was no discount it would be £1,300. That's just mad! I can get the complete repair kit for £145 will have to look at the repair manual and see how hard it is to do
