fastcar Posted May 20, 2011 Share Posted May 20, 2011 Hi peeps as the title says. I think I heard somewhere that there is a repair kit for the steering rack. Was wondering if it was a pig to fit or should I just buy a new one. If so does anyone know how much a new steering rack would set me back? Thanks in advance! Ricardod Posted May 21, 2011 Share Posted May 21, 2011 read somewhere that its a PITA to rebuild the steering rack with new seals and such, it was recomended to buy a 2nd hand as new ones are very expensive. mines leaky too but it only drips once every 2 or 3 weeks so i can live with it. If so i would think you will be able to do it with the rack on the car & i've heard it is handy enough to do. Don't quote me on this though as i've not done mine yet. fastcar Posted May 23, 2011 Author Share Posted May 23, 2011 its on the ends and on a bolt in the middle i also have a leak on i think what is the power steering cooler on the front of the car. its leaking out of a seal on one of the connectiong pipes. also had one on the power steering vain pump but sorted that with a new seal. looks like the seal are geting tired on the steering side of things but not unexpected on a 18-19 year old car. was just thinking of getting new one then wont have to worry about it for a while. might give steve manley a phone see what he can do one for.
