Motoring tip of the week.

Over Christmas I was in contact with my Great Grandmother Gibbs, a magnificent if not eccentric English gentle woman, quite a rebel in her day. The rest of the family thought she was crazy, but we recognised each other as kindred spirits, albeit separated by generations.

Back in the distant sands of time, GGG was quite a speed freak, however some what limited by the inconvenience of a gentleman with a red flag walking in front of her vehicle. Over the years she became an accomplished mechanic, and taught me many of the things I know today.

I have told her about the MKIV club and she said you all sound like darling boys and girls, though some thought were probably little scaly wags. She would love to attend a meet and has an ambition to join the 200mph club, as a passenger thankfully.

Back to the point of the thread.

Gusty, as Great Grandmother Gibbs is better known, said she has a few tips for us and our motors, for these horrid winter days.

Gusty’s Tip of the week.

Keeping your hands warm.

Starting Handles – those of you of her generation will undoubtedly remember hands freezing on to a cold starting handles on winter nights and mornings. Carrying a spare pair of knickers, or socks for the boys, is an essential for any driver, you never know when they will come in handy. Just wrap the knickers round the handle and Bob’s your uncle, hands don’t freeze on to the metal.

I am sorry that it is just the one tip this week but, it is an absolute bugger copying her tips down with the other hand on the Ouija Board.

Keep you eyes open form more helpful motoring tips from Gusty.
