i have a sony erricson p910i used to be on orange now on O2 and virgin sim cards. both do 160 character limit then it says how many messages it goes into. i stick to 160 and chop words down if its slightly too long. splitting messages over a few texts is crap as sometimes they geto other side out of order.

i use the O2 sim cards payg as they have 300 free texts and 300 wap mins.

Ro,I just checked my settings. It seems you may have changed your Character set in your messaging accounts to UCS2,whatever that means lol instead of 7bit.I just did it to check and I could only use 70 characters per message.

You didn't have it set to allow Chinese did you, Ro?

From : http://www.mobiledia.com/reviews/sonyericsson/p910/page3.html

With SMS (Short Message Service), users can send text messages containing up to 160 characters (70 characters for Chinese text). Concatenated SMS is possible by writing longer messages. The P910 will automatically send it using more than one SMS.
