foggy147
Hi does anyone have a go kart for sale or know anyone that could possibly be selling one? Looking for a senior one obviously, preferably a 4 stroke so I can take it to 3 sisters karting in wigan. Want it just for a bit of fun to take to a proper outside karting track, keep saying I want to do track days etc but not actually doing anything about it. So figured this would be a much more affordable way to have a blast. Cheers

marc_p
Ahhh, I used to love karting, I used to have my own and was racing nearly every single weekend, fantastic amounts of fun it was. I've done 3 sisters a few times, but when did they change the noise regs? I used to be fine there in a 2 stroke TKM. You don't want 4 stroke, go for a 2 stroke, I had a TKM at the time but they have now been all but replaced by the Rotax Max as the most popular. Awesome, can you give me some advice on what I should be looking for? When I look at the 3 sisters site and you look at the 'owner' section where you bring your own kart it says it has to be a 4stroke? Unless that means only if your entering into some sort of championship with it? I've seen some rotax ones on ebay going for between 600-800 with quite a few spare bits as well. Are the karts easy to maintain etc? I'm not bothered about full on racing I just want to beable to take it to the karting tracks and have a blast? I want to use it at 3 sisters mainly because it's close to where I live so would be ideal. I also need to buy a trailor for it as well as I doubt it will fit in the back of the car haha! Kart wise, I would be looking at Rotax engine'd one, they are very popular so spares are plentiful, they also benefit from the push button start so you don't have to bump them or lug around heavy starter motors, the downside to them is that they need a top end rebuild every 25 hours of use, which is about £150-£200. Chassis wise, I was always swayed to the Venom's but Tony Kart chassis's are really good aswell The problem with the 4-stroke karts is that they are very sluggish, poor throttle response and just not as much fun as 2 strokes, plus if you ever wanted to get into doing any race meets and championships, the 4 strokes are unpopular. The last race meet I ever did, there was only 1 4 stroke in his catagory(I suppose he got an easy gold though ) If I were you, I would give 3 sisters a ring/email and see if they allow 2 stroke Rotax's on there circuits. Feel free to ask me any questions fella
