T04Z smoky turbo?

My freind has 2.8 skyline running the t04z ; it is very smookey but was told this is normal for that Turbo.

 

Sitting behind him in traffic, clouds of smoke ; the fumes would poison you. On boost big dirty puff of smoke like a diesel taking off

 

Is this normal?

No. It isn't normal and sounds like his turbo seals have failed.

Is it black or blue smoke, depending on the colour it's either running incredibly rich or it has a knackered turbo.

Its not normal for qny turbo to smoke, dunno who told him that! Sounds like its rebuild time

Black, i reckon it is mapped to run very rich for 95 petrol

Basically, the smoke signals are like so:

 

Black = Petrol

 

Blue = Oil

 

White = Water

Might just be down to the mapper being safe with the crap petrol over here

Ernie on here had a T04Z in his Supra, I seen it in the flesh; no smoke; drove like a normal car

 

My friend has a R33 highly tuned, T51 or something but no smoke

 

This R34 is the only single I have seen with the hugh amounts of smoke; he is getting the Motec installed this week so will see; he has the HKS V-CamproII so its a nightmare to wire up and Map.

Engine was built by top secret, It is at the stage it is too highly tuned; I keep telling him to go over to abbey motorsport see if they get it running nice then you can benchmark against the guys over here

mate i agree ians skyline is some car almost 800hp its the nicest ive seen but were he gets his work done i would personally not let them change a light bulb the place is flithy and is nothing like a car tuning facility is more like a scrap yard ever seen the film u-turn well say no more
