Is my TV goosed?

The picture turned a bit "funny" last night and now it's like this all the time. Same thing on Sky or PS3 (different cables). I've also tried hitting it, that didn't help.

The picture has problems displaying black in particular (see the sides of the screen in the pic) anyone know if this is terminal?

1 suggestion, if you haven't already, reset all the defaults on everything. Also have a look online and see if there is a "hard" reset option available that automatically defaults everything and clears everything.

Thats a strange 1 , have you tried unplugging from the power for a minute or so?

Yeah, I left if off overnight in case it was heat related (It's always run a bit hot), but same thing today

I'd thought this was terminal, but thanks for the replies. Could do without this at the moment, I was hoping to fix the clutch on the supra but that's going to have to wait another month now!

Had a quick look down Currys this evening, found 37, 40 and 42in LG's LCD's at £329 each. Might have to try the 37, don't fancy anything too big in the living room

Theres some belting deals in Sainsburys, 40" 1080p LCD, think it was Samsung, for 379 on Sunday.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, I found some a fair bit cheaper than that. Currys have a clearance on at the moment, 37, 40 and 42in LCD 1080p's for £329 each. LG, Samsung and JVC so should be fairly decent. I don't use it for gaming so not after anything high end.

I think it will be repairable mate and very simple to. I had almost the same image problems with mine just after christmas but all dark colours were being displayed as red. It turned out to be 1 loose wire running from the PCB where the HDMI connects to the main PCB behind the screen. 10 second fix for someone who knows their way around the inside of TV's.

Again I go back to the EU Sale of Goods Act chap :) if it's less than 6 years old and you have the receipt... you could then buy a clutch.

Otherwise I think it's a great time to buy a 37-42 1080p LCD as it seems to be that transition point where LEDs are getting cheap enough on average (but then you really need to buy a soundbar!)

Don't buy anything top of the line, next big thing after faddy (and horrible) 3D I hope will be proper 21:9 aspect TVs like the phillips I have :) then you can watch hi-def movies without the letterbox aspect
