dazla
My iggi needs a new home. I don't want any money for him. I would just be very grateful for him to have a large and lovely viv to spend the last of his years. He is roughly 3.5 foot long and is about 12 years old. very friendly and loves to be tickled. The reason for this very reluctant decision to re home him is that my partner has developed asthma in the last couple of years and struggles to be in the same room. I am in Bolton, northwest. Please be aware that this is a large iggi and is not a good idea to have just because you fancy owning one. He will need a lot of care and the right equipment. I will vet anybody who is serious about taking him. He doesn't come with a viv as the one i have is to big the get out of the house without dismantling. His home is a large corner wardrobe attached to a single wardrobe with glass doors. So if he does get a new home it would have to be the same size or bigger. Soopra
sorry to hear that i had a similar size iggy a few years back. when i bought "him" i was told he was definitely a boy. Until one evening when "he" laid over 70 eggs!! Next day Wilf was looking very poorly so we went to the vet who said that she still had eggs inside and would need an op. While she survived the op she never really got over it and died a few months later i currently have a 3 legged beardy (Stumpy) and a Sudan Plated Lizard (Lizzie)
dazla
Mate thats a shame about your iggi. Mine was the other way round. I thought he was a female but a trip to the vets confirmed he was a male. He had got stuck in the wall cavities for 7 days. We had to pin point were he was. I had to knock 40+ bricks out of the atic wall. The full story is on here somewhere

If he is interested i'll PM you his number and you can sort it out with him. Please make sure he knows what he's doing as these are not like any other reptile to look after and need pretty much a full room for themselves with specialist lighting. They only eat various vegetables and fruits and you need to get the calcium and phosphorus ratios correct as they will suffer from metabolic bone disease if you don't. And they do not eat crickets or any type of protein( meat.

My other half has asthma which is why having an iggy is so good as it obviously doesnt have any fur or feathers. People need to be aware of the costs involved. Although your offering him free to a good home a viv for this size iguana with all the special requirements will cost at least £600! As our iguana's just had his new 6ft x 5ft viv built and believe me they dont come cheap! Are you a member of RFUK? dazla
Her asthma has been getting worse for the last year, as soon as she enters the room she coughs and sneezes violently not to mention breathing difficulties. I have iggi advertised on a website called preloved, A man contacted me from a reptile rescue center in Wales with the exact same problem. He has all sorts of reptiles including iggis. He has 3 females and 1 male and he can not enter the male viv without wearing a dust mask. Strange i know. Maybe they release and air born partical in the air that triggers it I just don't know. We have tried all sorts of substrates with dust free and even shredded news paper but it doesn't change anything. WE also have 2 dogs and a bird but she is fine with them. Gonna check out RFUK now, Cheers for that. Oh and this is my home made viv done on the cheap.
supra joe
Ahh what a shame I've never heard of anyone being allergic to reptiles!! I really wish I had the space to home another iggy but as you well know they need like a full room to themselves! Well done on your custom built viv! It looks amazing, just make sure the lucky owner can live up to the high standards you have kept him in. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted
Benzsupra
Just as you said, he said the same unfortunately. He said they are a lot more work to keep than his current reptiles so he wouldn't take it on due to time, still i tried
supra joe
Hame he looks like he is well looked after. I'd take the harness off him though as thus causes damage to spines etc. Why don't you ask a zoo ? Or get on RFUK.
