Peachicks

Well, we have about 40 peahen eggs, but the peahens have shown a total disinterest in sitting them. However, two 1 year old guinea fowl hens that share their flight pen have decided they shouldn't be wasted, and with no male guinea fowl in there to have chicks of their own with, have been sitting them for the required 28 days. 8 hatched of the 10 (!) she sat, which was remarkable given she's a third the size of a peahen. Being small howvere she hasn't been able to adequately cover 8 chicks and sadly 2 have died, but this morning she left the nest with them for the first time, (2 days old), and took them for a wander about. Ahhhh! :) The other guinea hen started sitting later, "hers" aren't due to hatch until the weekend.
