patrikbrunt
Afternoon all, Recently I bought a Mines ECU for my NA, it was bought as possibly having issues, but the seller could not test it as they no longer had an NA. It was described that the car had been running rough with the ECU in, and as a result was swapped back to stock. The seller did say that it had been run on 95 RON fuel though and that that may have been the cause. I gave the ECU a test this weekend (with Tesco premium fuel in the tank) and am a little unsure as to what is happening with it... basically at first it ran fine, it certainly felt perkier and the rev limit was raised to 7000+ RPM. However the following morning I popped into town and on the way I gave it a bit of a blast and it started to run poorly and felt down on power. I got back home, left it a while, went back out and at first it was still not running right, but then on the way to my lockup it seemed to fix itself and run well again. So i'm now unsure if the ECU is faulty, or maybe it needs a while to 'settle in' and 'learn' the ideal running conditions. The chap I bought the ECU from did agree that if I found it to be faulty I could send it back and he would refund my money, so I have absolutely no issue there. However, I would obviously like to be sure before I condone it as duff. Any suggestions? Cheers.
Neil-NA
Me and m_life both found the mines needed a few days to settle down. I would if you have not already contact mines in Japan to find out what was done to the ecu and see if they can help.
patrikbrunt
That's just what I wanted to hear it did appear strange to me that it worked fine one minute then dodgy the next... would imagine if it was bust it'd be dodgy all the time. I think I will contact Mines and see what I can uncover. Do you know their contact details by any chance?
Guest ugp
Mine ran like a bag of spanners for the first few days too, soon settled down though.

Guest ugp
I just put the cheap stuff in, it seemed to sort itself out with that. If you put 98ron in it / swap fuels it took a few days again to sort out.
Samurai 20V
Typical behaviour from an OEM style N/A Toyota ECU... I had the same issues with my Corolla RXi.. Any changes that were made to the car, it needed a few days to clear its brains then only it would run properly.. Even changing fuel over to race fuel used to confuse the hell out of it, then after some time it would sort itself out... People who tried to chip the ECU, would just find their cars running backwards... Yet the likes of the Golfs/Audis/BMW/Mercs can just plug in to the OEM ecu via OBD2, load a map and off they go...
