dr_jekyll
OK , I JUST FOUND THIS , IS THIS ALL CORRECT? WHAT SIZE WIRE SHOULD I USE AND WILL THE STOCK FUEL LINES TO THE PUMP BE ENOUGH . AFTER THE PUMP I HAVE -6 TO THE FUEL RAIL Edited August 5, 2011 by dr_jekyll (see edit history)
Chris Wilson
The stock connector terminals DO NOT like carrying double the amperage, they overheat, loose their temper and fail, they also melt the connector shells. None of this is good around a fuel tank. It's vital to either share the current load as in the diagram, or you need to use a bespoke alloy tank top drilled for your specific electrical and fluid requirements, and with either Deutsch fuel proof connectors, or Premier wire feed throughs (much cheaper option). dr_jekyll
so i should do as in the second diagramme . use the earth on the conecters as a second live to split the amps and run athocker earthto an earthing pole drilled through the tank cap. or should i ditch the stock conecter and run thicker wires through the top of the cap and have the wires on bullets outside the tank? and aditioanlly what wire on the pump ecu should i use to switch the relays for the live ? Chris Wilson
You should be OK with the second diagram. I am not sure which terminal triggers the relay, I haven't got my manuals here at the moment, sorry. My Skyline is a similar tank top setup. I turned some alloy top hats to replace the stock tank cap, so I could then use wire feed throughs and drill for proper Aeroquip hose fittings. I *SUSPECT* they may be the same size as Supra ones, but keep forgetting to check, I made 3 spares...
dr_jekyll
ok , ill go for that and search around to find the correct trigger wire. thanks chris
Wez
Look at te fuel kit Ryan has for sale, it's from Tonys old car and shows how it should be done, much like the second diagram One question though, why add another pump if it's not needed, just keep it as a spare? dr_jekyll
just for headroom , last time it wasbeing mapped it started to struggle over 1 bar so im ading another pump and a fpr to get the best from my 550cc injectors. just until i can afford an ecu that can run 750s then ill go for a bosch unit
