Josh
Events section Josh Look for events, they won't always come to you I've had a good search and can't find anything. Sorry if I'm being dumb but nothing shows in the "2011 Club Events" section or in the "Llandow Trackdays" thread in the "Wales" section. Sorry but I can't see it anywhere! Homer
Well said Craig on that there were some exelent drivers , ther was a chap in a insanly fast subaru and he was superb on the edge every lap with consitantly identical lines lap after lap very impressive . Was that the dark blue one driving in the pro sessions? He was absolutely on the edge, lifting the inside wheel even on the 100+mph corner, really good driver to watch. Jamesy
well fcuk my old boots i cant believe it was HIS skyline that caught fire. he was on the Redline stand with us and spent HOURS trying to gget his car sorted, complete with his car crew team. Failed noise test, messed about for ages drilling exhaust and trying to fit baffle, then changing all the wheels/tyres for slicks, then his wheels were fouling the inner arch so was banging away at that....you kinda got the feeling the gods were telling him to turn it in for the day

You will find, real track animals don't spend thousands making their cars 'look' like they can go, but rather on stuff that MAKES them go (I of course refer to BGWs, side skirts, etc )

Chris Wilson
I believe the issue with going on track at such events is they are poorly policed, with no proper briefings, and such short track time people who may never even have driven the track before tend to go wild to make the most of a handful of laps when they really should acclimatise themselves over several track days at the same circuit. A proper full track day run by a proper track day organiser is generally very well run, with poor or aggressive driving dealt with promptly and effectively. I ran my auto TT on countless track days, still on 16 inch rims and the small Jap spec brakes, with decent pads and fluid, and stock suspension with just the geo altered within bounds of stock adjustment. There's no need to go mad on mods. It even did a sodden Oulton Porsche Club GB track day and I was asked not to bring it again as it seems some of the owners were aghast at being lapped by an auto Jap barge, driven by a balding, ageing fat guy, who looked like he should be queuing for the Samaritan's soup kitchen, and wasn't dressed in fireproofs and 250 quid race boots Don't underestimate a MKIV, even in the wet they can be great. Just don't over tyre and wheel them, and keep the suspension pretty soft, unless you want to go the whole hog and make it a bit faster at the expense of being a twitchy, sweaty palmed beast to drive on track in all but warm and bone dry conditions. I am considering seeing if I can convert the sequential shift mechanism to work off a stock auto box lever and display quadrant, just for fun. I used to enjoy my Colt Sapporo turbo, that was mega quick in its day, after Ken Brittain of Brodie Brittain Racing got me some Group A engine bits, but it was an oddball over here, so I put a diesel plaque on the bootlid, and a "Diesel" fuel sticker on the filler flap. That was in the days diesels sounded and went like London Taxis I know at least two people who went to Colt dealers wanting one of the silly fast diesels they had (not) brought out There was one on Ebay a bit ago, which looked very tidy : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320679169929
