Parry_10
Had this problem for a while- when I turn the ignition on I get all the dash/warning lights etc then when I start the engine they all go out apart from the oil pressure light which stays on for a second or 2 then goes out (sometimes it flashes twice then goes out)- it doesnt do this all the time but most of the time, seems to do it when the engine is cold and hot. its tt-bpu should I be worrying about this? DaveR
Might be worth getting it checked by someone reputable just to be sure, but if it's going out it shouldn't be too much to worry about, I don't imagine. Have you checked your oil level recently...?
Swampy442
Thats pretty normal in my experience. Its going out which is themain thing. If youre in any doubt change the switch
Parry_10
yeh oil level is on max, just wasnt sure why its doing this as im sure the pressure light should go out the same time as the others, and why it stays on for 2 secs and sometimes it flashes twice and goes out and then sometimes it just goes out with the other warning lights, very strange... bignum
Pretty sure all of my supra`s have done this, its just as oil pressure builds around the engine, what grade oil are you using?
Parry_10
ah ok I just wasnt sure if it was meant to do this, im using 5w-30 fully synthetic but doing an oil and filter change next week I will be changing to 5w40 fully synthetic- gulf competition oil from opie oils
Chris Wilson
Try a 50 or 60 weight oil. Make SURE the filter has an anti drain back valve. Has the car got an oil cooler other than the stock Modine unit?
Swampy442
As Chris says, try a heavier oil, 5w 30 is a little thin. Oh and you dont really need fully synth oil
Parry_10
Its stock oil cooler and and oem filter, I've been told 5w-40 is best to use for bpu what would you guys reccomend me to get? What difference will a thicker oil make?
