k9l3
hi i have a 96 auto and sometimes its like it does not want to change down gear correctly especially when used a bit. apart from that it works fine and kicks down fine all the modes work ok. its got that feeling when you pull of and in the wrong gear also regarding changing the gearbox oil is it ok to use normal oil etc or have i got to use something special. any help will be appreciated
Robzki
Have a search on the autobox oil on here m8 as I can't remember, mine needs doing soon, so I'll do a search then. I think you're on the right track though, don't change it all at once , If you drain the sump you only get out 2ltrs+ then drive for a while(months) then change another sump full iirc. It isn't advised to change it all at once from what I've been told unless you have a major problem as it can cause more problems. David P
Dexron II, check level with engine running and warm, clunk through the gears and check in neutral. No need for a complete flush unless the fluid has been burned, (brown and smelly) just empty sump and top up with 2 litres. If that doesn't sort it, check the setting and function of the TPS. Swampy442
Theres also a filter in the box that is a service item, if an oil flush/change doesnt help thats the next place I'd look.
