I had probs with my car this morning and phoned the RAC at 8.20 to arrange getting it towed to Max-gt, i explained its a specialist vehicle etc and i didnt want to leave it in a gravel lay-by, alongside a busy dual carrigeway etc and guess what?....

Its 12.40, 4 phone calls to them later, and ive still not had any phone calls to say they will be 5min to pick it up! its still sat in the layby!!!

To say the least im not happy...

Thats not good - I have found the RAC to be pretty good when I needed them, sorry to hear of the incompetence and hope you get sorted soon.

It just gets better, i had a call to say they will be there 5min etc so i got there and within 10min guy turned up and i was pleased, untill they said there was no way they could get it on his flatbed without ripping the bumper and intercooler off! Funny i did stress this point to them in the previous 4 phone calls!!!

We have now left it that they will send this "specially low" flatbed designed for this problem etc and it will be with me approx 3 hrs

I do appreciate that there are more important calls and there might be delays, the only way i got to work was because a work colleage collected me otherwise 6hrs later i would still be there...

When my gearbox went driving home from Bournemouth, phoned Europ Assist and they had a guy in a towtruck there in 20 minutes or so. Saw straight away it was too low to tow, so called up a hydraulically powered flatbed that too arrived in about 20 minutes! Driver of the flatbed had maxed out his hours, so couldn't drive us home, so they lent us a brand new Fiesta for the trip home, and brought the Supe back the next morning (this time on a bog standard flatbed, and they slightly scrapped the exhaust getting it off). Still, overall definitely impressed, since I think I pay less then £50 a year and have Europe wide cover.
