OEM as the rest have worse filtration and you won't see any power increase from it. Regardless of what people say they are a waste of money IMO.

When you say a waste of money, how often does the oem have to be changed? I only ask because the k&n needs cleaning after 50k miles in normal use.

I know what you mean about 'name branded blingy panels' My hks got sucked in through the tubbies. cheap rubbish.

However I've just put in a k&n looks very well made and seems highly regarded. I definitely would steer clear of foam ones

that is just my opinion though.

Mine looked fine a few months ago, then had a look a few weeks ago and half of it was missing, what was left was like that green oasis stuff that flower arrangers use. very dry and very brittle. must have been faulty.

Would you really wait 50K before cleaning it though ? I doubt it. I get what your saying but I would change / clean it once a year regardless of mileage but that's just me. My main point was if it was for performance gain it is a waste of money as there isn't any. Plus if its an oiled one won't it cover your lambda in crap?

Basically there is no upside apart from a slight change in exhaust note and a whole load of down sides.

Cheers guys, going to slap a blitz paper filter in, going to stay well away from foam filters.

I've got a HKS panel filter, and I've not had a problem with it at all.

You're not likely to have any problems, you're likely to have more engine/turbo wear though over time.
