tooquicktostop
I know some of you have an interest in diets so here goes I have always been "challenged" with my weight, I am only 5'7" tall so any weight really shows, being a chef for most of my career I have always had late meals, picking and beer to content with I have used Atkins with short term success for a few years (not the way to do it) and it really works but the weight goes back on so quickly when you come off it, which you are not supposed to ever do if you read the book and follow the rules! Well this year I will be 40 and this has been a real motivation to get myself really fit, lower my blood pressure and feel generally better I started after new year on a 3 times a week minimum regime at the local gym, very hard at first but slowly got easier, I saw some weight loss but the diet needed attention I cut out late eating and removed some of the bad carbs, I then added a lot more fresh fruit to the daily diet and drank more water Now the radical part, I have entered a 28 day Detox diet to fast track a little, the diet is a raw foods diet only, I eat only raw fruit, vegetables and some raw fish for protein, I am on day 14 so half way No dairy, no cooked food (above 63oC) no alcohol, no caffeine and no processed food The first 3 days were pretty horrid with headaches and tiredness, I kept up the gym regime and added some vitamin tables just in-case. I have lost 2.5 stone since xmas taking me from 15 stone to 12 stone 7 lbs, the lightest I have been for many years, the diet has given me 8lbs in 14 days I am running further, lifting more and feeling generally so much better in myself, my blood pressure is now normal and I have brought myself a new wardrobe Just thought the story may add some motivation to anyone who felt as unfit and unhealthy as I did 5 months ago, the real challenge is keeping it off and staying motivated Think I will deserve a Single turbo Supra at the end of the detox ! caseys
As it's 65 days til my 30th I'm determined to lose nearly as much as you have but over I guess twice the period! I'm 5'8 but 100kg, trying to lose 10kg of that (but I am reasonably muscular). I was down at 13.5st once when I had to get to that weight for a skydiving event My diet is cutting out all processed foods and sugar bar fruit derived. I can have fruit juice/cereal for breakfast only and it's to be within 15 minutes of waking to get metabolism going. No sugar free drinks with aspartine in either as it's a water/weight retainer. Otherwise now it's a diet of complex carbs and a good level of protein as well as 60-90 minutes of exercise a day including running, rowing and weight training. 65 days without ketchup and White bread is going to be my struggle. Still keeping on the caffiene though but only through supplements as whilst I don't have a physical job it required intense long periods of concentration. Good effort by you so far and I'm impressed keep us all informed of your progress chap My motivation? I dont want my daughter to be able to tire me out or look at her father as a slob, if I want her to do well in life I have to show the standards myself right from the start. I'd like her to be proud that I'm her father.

Well done mate, although these radical diets i really don't like. they hit the nervous system really hard. There is really no quick way to lose weight, if you think about it, the weight that you added didnt go on in one night, so its not going to come off in one night either. Just make sure your eating plenty of clean food, loads of water(people forget this) and that you exercise plenty. with the 3 of them combined results are amazing. If you need a help with diet give me a shout, i'll be back helping people as soon as i've finished competing. Well done matey, I know how hard it can be to lose weight, I have also shed over 2.5 stone since last year and it is difficult so well done Its not difficult you just have to be smart about food, and count the numbers, fresh cooking is alot easier than people think. There just Lazy.
tooquicktostop
Good advice Geo and something I think we all know but choose to ignore and when we diet we want results, well I do anyway I have taken a different approach this time 5 months into a new life regime, the raw diet was just a kick start to my motivation really rather than the weight loss it brings, I am feeling the 28 days is more than enough though I dont want to be muscle bound or running marathons but just feel fitter and better about myself I guess, mid life crisis and all !! David P
I live on junk food and beer, yet my weight, cholesterol and blood pressure are perfect for someone half my age. Maybe it's the walk to the pub that does it.
