Lude
ive just removed some aftermarket wheel nuts, which were the worst ones ive ever seen. threads round easy on the nuts, and i think ive damaged one of the studs!!! i dont want to force my new nuts on, which would obv ruin the threads on the nuts, can i just tap & dye the stud back to normal? or will it have to be tapped to a smaller thread? baldy
if the thread id just caked up with the nut material, then yes you can run a tap down it to clean the thread. new studs are only a few quid though, and an easy thing to replace

pedrosixfour
All you can do is run the correct die onto the stud and see if the tread cleans up. With any luck it'll be just crap from the nut itself that needs to be removed. If the tread looks good then you are in the clear. If the tread looks bad (lumps missing) then you need a new stud, simple as.
