Robzki
I've got several bits and pieces to 'hide' in the car, I've only ever been as far as unclipping the main dash panels. Without going too far on a quest for room, Is there anywhere that I could find room to mount 15 sensor modules approx 10@3"x3"x2" and 5@6"x3"x2"? It doesn't sound a lot but need to find somewhere that they can be close together but not necessarily touching as they all need to have 12" link cables/power etc. They can however mount on top of each other. (basically making a tower) I know that toyota tend to squeeze things in wherever they can. I don't really want to lose the centre console or the glovebox. thanks Rob

There is no way you will get all 15 behind the dash!
David P
Loose the top glove box there is plenty of getatable space behind there.
j_jza80
There's always under the seats too?
Robzki
Thanks all, I had considered the under seat option, just lose the oem amp thingy not connected anyway Will look into the upper glovebox, don't really want to go cutting anything if I can help it. well worth a look. I think hecklers idea is the one I will end up with, the 5 large display modules under the centre console and the sensor modules behind the stereo. that way the usb cables could be made accessible in the centre console Just need a longer link cable as you say. I think its just a 3.5mm jack plug so shouldn't be too difficult. Can't imagine it being too tricky. Just need a flat space on the bulkhead to mount a relay and fusebox Thanks a lot Rob
Stephendjb
Surely there's space under the bonnet & that way you only have to sort out 2 wires coming through the bulkhead rather than loads of sensor wires? That's the way I did mine, I only briefly considered mounting them in the cabin.
Robzki
I take it your modules etc are waterproof? oh, you have plx too?
Stephendjb
Yep I'm on PLX as well, not quite as many sensors as you've got though . Mine are going in a box under the bonnet behind the OS headlight that will be sealed. Don't know if your single but there's more space under the bonnet of a Supra than an Aristo so surely something could be sorted out? Unless you have vents in the bonnets when was the last time you saw the under bonnet area wet anyway?

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm just concerned about the build quality of plx stuff at the moment. undo the screws on the ends of the boxes and slide out the pcb, It wouldn't take a lot of moisture in there to mess it up. It can be v damp, or v dry, hot, cold under there. You have to ask yourself why ecu's and pretty much all control modules etc are in the car. By the time its finished there will be nearly £2000 under there. I haven't got the kind of money to waste to take the chance. but on that score I have found plenty of nice places inside that will be easily accessible How did you get on with the remote? Cheers m8 Rob
Stephendjb
Yeah I know what you mean with the build quality thing, do yours actually interlock? We got a rubber mallet on a few of mine after taking out the pcb's, just to find out if they actually were capable of interlocking & it certainly wasn't easy even then How come you've got so many control modules, what are you monitoring? I've just got oil temperature & pressure, gearbox temperature & AFR's. I'll probably add fuel pressure as well after reading a few threads on the PLX web site that suggest the oil pressure gauge is good for at least a year, though I'm currently looking at possible compatible sensors. I haven't touched the remote yet, the car is a couple of hundred miles away from me at the moment, but it'll be back next weekend though & I can start messing with it
Robzki
Hahaha, with the interlocking, been there, done it, involved a hammer and a vice. Only tried joining 2 together. I now need to take them apart to mount them in the space I have Had a good deal on the sensors etc. At the moment I'm putting in Afr, Egt post turbo,(planning on pre turbo when I have the time) Ait between turbo and intercooler, Ait after intercooler in the throttle body. water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, Autobox, turbo/vac and whatever else I can find. I have looked into the fuel pressure too. Its a vdo pressure sensor(forget the model) but its exactly the same one listed on aero sites, planes, microlights and the like, for fuel pressure. If its good enough at 10,000ft then I'm happy. I think it is plx covering their backs in case some numpy connects it to a 12v feed or sprays themselves with petrol and then has a smoke. It is an american company and we know what they can be like regarding lawsuits Looking forward to the remote mod cheers Rob
Stephendjb
I've got egt as well I forgot about that mine is pre turbo. I've had another idea about where to mount the remote but it still involves taking it apart so watch this space.
Stephendjb
WWhen you find out the model of that sensor can you post it up or pm me? Thanks.
