More slow PC / slow connection / You Tube upload woes!

I have (as mentioned in an earlier thread on here) some in car camera footage I want to give to three people. I have managed, by using a downloaded app, very slowly converted a 1.3 gig size MP4 file down to just under 115 megs, in .FLV format. I have tried during every spare minute today, to upload it to You Tube, but due to my being in the sticks, at the end of ancient aluminium cabling miles form the local exchange, got a pitifully slow "broadband" connection, that regularly drops out altogether. I got stuck in to this to the point of getting fraught. I tried the latest version of Firefox with latest Java, and You Tube's new large file / resumable uploads option, which gave its own issues, as You Tube claimed not to "see" Java. I then downloaded IE8 and tried with that. You Tube got to a near successful 98% file acceptance, then, you guessed it, it stalled. I am trying to upload this .FLV file to my hosted server. Is it possible for A N Other with a decent connection and PC, to grab it, and then upload it to my You Tube address if I gave them the password? I have never uploaded anything before, and thought it would be dead easy. Seems that it's not, for us out in the boon-docks :) Thanks.

It's at http://www.newbury-house.com/anglesey.flv

My connection speed is such that the original 1.3 odd gigs MP4 file off the camera memory card would have taken me days to upload, in fact it would never happen, due to the frequent connection drop outs we get :( Is there any way of compressing the MP4 further, or converting it more efficiently for a YT upload? Thanks. Do you need any more stuff to upload, I assume you mean upload it to you own YT "section" rather than mine, if you don't need my user name and password? Very kind of you :)

to be honest it would be better getting the 1.3gig (or full raw file) and compessing to mp4 as YT doesnt like .flv (that maybe the issue on the upload)

I am in higher heath tomorrow if you can pop it on a disc - or can I grab that direct now?

uploading the .flv now to see how it does Chris :)

I can pop them on a disc, no worries, but what I don't understand is this. When I link the camera to the PC via the USB cable, and download the film clips off the memory card they are already showing as MP4 files, all of vast size. Are you saying there's a way to compress them more? I have an unregistered version of AVS which seems to do quite a lot of unfathomable things :) If I put them on a DVD it will have to be on a few, due to the size, do I just make it as a data DVD? Cheers.

you know where Pine Lodge Tyres is Chris on main road in Higher Heath. I will be there midday ish if you want to drop it off or I could collect.

.flv is 80% uploaded to YT at the moment :)

here you go Sir Chris :D (still processing so quality will be better soon)

If you want it/any other footage at your You Tube PM me your account details and I will upload it straight away :)

Or any footage put on a dvd disc for playback on dvdplayer/pc (without the AVS logo :D ) just let me know ;)

Thank you VERY much indeed, that's real good of you! I have about three more clips from Anglesey, I am trying converting one to .avi in another free app, to see what size it ends up. This app has an option to upload to YT then. If I get nowhere I'll bug you again, if I may? Thanks. Once I get them all in one place I'll see if you would bung them in my YT account space, if I may? Let me know if I can return the favour in some way. Cheers.

hey its no problem chris...... this free app is good its called format factory. Its free and can be downloaded here http://www.formatoz.com/index.html

Just set your codec you want (mp4) drop the file in (you can adjust quality in options) and hit start :D

Good for a free app and no AVS or any logos ;)

I converted your 109mb .flv in Format Factory leaving the defaults and it came back in at 212mb. You did record on full HD I see 1920*1080

In the end the .flv uploaded for me no problems. Any more you need doing just send me the links via PM or e-mail or on a dvd disk (im up higher heath daily)
