Odometer reading- States MILES but clocks KM's?

Hi All,

Apologies for the nOOb question but I'm new to Mkiv supras, and I have done several searches, none that I can find (so far) answer my question.

I bought my 1st supra a few weeks ago, and it has become apparent that although the text on the ODO states "MILES" i believe it is actually clocking up in kilometers. Is this at all possible?

I did a round trip to a regular destinantion, and I had to take a diversion due to traffic on the way which I expect would have added approx 20 miles to my trip. The normal route is 35 each way, so I expected about 90 miles to be clocked. On the trip meter I clocked 150 miles doing this journey!

Using a rough 1.6 factor, if it was in KM's, thats 93.75 miles, much closer than expected.

I then tested if the ODO was climbing at a different rate to the TRIP meter, but they are rising at the same rate.

Does anyone know what the problem could be here? All the history and paperwork with the car states "mileage" not kilometers. The car was imported by a (now defunct) Japanese import dealer, so I'd assume the job was done correctly back in 2004 but you never know!

Any help or points in the right direction would be appreciated.

Cheers

Dan :)
