Split charging.

Recommended Posts

The time has come to start thinking what I need for the install in the ute.

As I am going to be running a pair of 15's I think I should go a split charge system. I kniw how these work but I refuse to pay $200 bucks for one when I can do It myself.

The problem I have is a lack of internet to research it, so are there any knowledable folks that could give me a parts list so I can just go and buy the bits?

Will be running a class d mono amp off the extra battery with a capacity of 1114w rms.

Thanks gents!

You might probably need a hefty solid state relay, I used to run a split charge system in my little van and it could happily pop a 15amp fuse.. Not straight away but it gets hot. I ran a wire from the alternator charge light to the relay coil so that when it was running it would join up the two batteries.

Probably find something on a camping site or something of that nature :)
