Matt T
I was all set to avoid all of it at all costs, but got home from work and turned it on to see what was happening and havent turned it off since Been pretty good i must admit, The Who, Pink Floyd, Madonna, Robbie Williams, were all great
Jake
Sting was surprisingly good. Velvet Revolver were shite but still 10x better than Pete Whatsisname from Babyshambles. I was embarrased for him. I was disappointed to see the Scissor Sisters being allowed to "You won't know this one, it's our new single, out next week" Keane were really good. I didn't think I was going to like them. Pleasant surprise. WTF was Beckham rambling on about? Why was he even allowed on stage? Is that the guy from 'Guns and Roses' in Velvet Revolver? MrAngry
Is that the guy from 'Guns and Roses' in Velvet Revolver? Yep the guitarist was Slash. Pink Floyd made it for me!! absofeckinglutely brilliant
Class One
It was kind of compelling viewing. The music was great and not too much of the sanctimonious crap in between. The who Pink Floyd Good to see the old guard to show 'em how its done.
Jake
The music was great and not too much of the sanctimonious crap in between. You mean all that boring stuff about those people dying spoils a good concert for you? (just kidding, I knew what you meant)

Rob
Never thought I would ever see Waters on stage with the others again. It takes millions dying to get him to forget their old argument. Madonna was pretty good as well, and REM, but the BBC cut away to an interview with young whippersnappers Razorlight halfway thru the REM set, unbelieveable. I wonder if Robbie Williams did get to shag Fearne Cotton afterwards?
Aerotop Dave
Geldof doing I Don't Like Mondays - fantastic. I much prefer his live version of that to the original record. He did it on telly a few months back on Parky or something - amazing.
dangerous brain
Looks like we saw the best bit then. I clicked past madonna and thought she was sh*te (her dancers were spectacular though) then we clicked past it again when the Who came on and didn't continue on the surf until after Floyd had finished. Was kind of amusing for my girlfriend when I said "why are they playing the theme tune to CSI??"
magicmatty
Velvet revolver have got three ex G"n"R members, Slash on Lead guiter, Matt Sorum on drums and Duff "rose" McKagan on base guitar. I thought they were not too bad actually. David Beckham should have been kicked off stage after the first 3 seconds... I felt embarrased for Peter Kay, he was crap and had nothing to do
imi
How many people watched this on TV? I thought the best act by far were The Who and Pink Floyd. Awesome PINK FLOYD were simply Amazing. Made the rest look like amateurs.... Velvet Revolver - yup, 3 GnR band members....but without Axle, its just not the same... And Madonna - why the hell did she have to swear for no reason..... Cheap....
John_M
Peter Kay was pi$$ed earlier on in the show when interviewed by Jonathon Ross! Supprised they let him on the stage to do his bit.
Rob
Madonna swore because she swore during Live Aid which caused huge outrage at the time. Did you see Snoop? Late afternoon and a torrent of motherf(_)ckin'. Can't imagine the Daily Mail readers being too impressed.
imi
Madonna swore because she swore during Live Aid which caused huge outrage at the time. Ok...still dont understand why she had to swear again, or is a case of well snoop can do it so why cant I? Did you see Snoop? Late afternoon and a torrent of motherf(_)ckin'. Can't imagine the Daily Mail readers being too impressed. Unlike Madonna he doesnt sing nursery rhyms.....If you put someone like Snoop Dogg on, what on earth do you expect ? GeordieSteve
Pink Floyd were great. Makes me sad to think there'd be some folks out there thinking they were copying the scissor sisters Beckham was good as well http://www.thegeordieconnection.com/stevep/b3ta/live8.jpg
imi
Who cares tbh? It didnt bother me some people swore, it wouldnt bother me if i had children and people swore. Point is, WHEN snoop swears, its expected and the norm. When madonna swears....its pretentious....and pathetic.
Barney
Pink Floyd, Velvet Revolver were the highlights for me, Floyd had the day won by miles though, great to see them back together and playing a blinder. Too many "up my own ass" celebs IMHO, Jonathan (I love the sound of my own voice) Ross, & Mariah (you won't know this one, it's my new single) Carey was a real pass the bucket moment. Still, if it helps the cause that's all the matters
Wolf
At least Mariah avoided another faux pas like her "i'd lke to be as thin as that but without all the flies and death and stuff" quote from the last time she was "helping" Africa! God I hate that woman!! I enjoyed the day but having been at Live Aid it just didn't have the same vibe - all a little bit flat to me and without some of the huge names that made Live Aid so spectacular and the feeling so many artistst had about the cause and injected in to their performances 20 years ago it was a little disappointing But when the video accompanied by the cars song came on I was back 20 years and blubbing like a baby - and then the young girl from the end cut of the video came on stage and it all seemed worthwhile again - Bob is a top guy and whilst he doesn't always get it right no one should ever knock what he's done. dane_stone
What an amazing gig loads of great bands wish I had tryed to get tickets for it now. About the swearing who gives a fcuk millions of people are dieing each year and people worry about words. One thing this gig has shown me is things like the weather and petrol prices aren't realy that important. just my 2p
Gaz Walker
The Who, Madonna, Sting, Robbie, Peter Kay were highlights for me. Great show. Watched from about 4 till midnight. Will Smith in Philly was great with his speach & music. Gaz.
