Posted April 30, 2011 Author Share Posted April 30, 2011 I have seen my mate/ mechanic do bushes a million times and did totally different, lol, had a vice, put a 17mm socket to press the bush and another socket the other side on the CRADLE ARM not what I should have done, which would be put a larger socket opposite the bush to press the bush into, don't ask!! pistonbroke Posted April 30, 2011 Share Posted April 30, 2011 The bush in the broken part looks pretty new compared to the ones I've just replaced. Like the others have said, some people have done the same as you and had the broken part welded without issue. When it comes to putting the new bushes in, you don't need to press them in. I put the solid alluminium shifter bushes in the freezer overnight, and heated each ring of the shifter mechanism on the oven, the bushes just dropped in, with no effort at all.
