spiderpigcity
how big is the issue with crank walk when using a single street disc on a 600bhp supra getrag 6 spd? is it something to worry about or is it only if you drift and rag the but cheeks off it everywhere you go? is it mileage related or is it just how hard you let the clutch out at high torque? dr_jekyll
ive read its just from starting the car with the cluch down so you are pulling the crank before there is an oil seat . just what i have read though
Tricky-Ricky
Yes pretty much limited to the US, as they have a clutch switch fitted, so as said causes extra wear to the crank thrust bearings when starting, however i am no convinced that is the whole story, the yanks also blame this for front main seal failure, but thats just hear say based and bull. spiderpigcity
i was just using this information to decide whether to go single streer disc clutch or twin plate. the twin plate not supposed to cause this. i have heard that many different stories its unreal. i will only be using the car once a month and i didnt see the point in spending extra on a twin plate, but if its a twin plate i need to stop me form damaging the engine then thats the way i will go. what do you think? Chris Wilson
I have never seen this as an issue, the thrust washer area is as large as any other manual crank, and the oiling isn't at all marginal. It's probably the Yanks putting in clutches that have throwout bearing preload, or the way they build the engine with inbuilt abrasives
Paul Whiffin
I wouldn't worry about this, we've never seen it before.
