Parry_10
I have a hks sqq bov mounted by the throttle body and im unsure weather it is leaking as sometimes on low revs it chatters and sometimes the noise that comes from it is half as loud as it normally is as if it sounds like its lost aload of the air before its had the chance to release it.... The hose running to it isnt leaking- ive tried taking the hose off and blocking it taking it for a drive and the bov still releases the air but its a different sort of sound... When on the 2nd turbo everything seems fine its just when on the first turbo it doesnt seem very responsive any ideas
a98pmalcolm
Its very very inlikely its the HKS BOV as they workon a pull pitston not a puch so theres no way the BOV can open up during boost Most probly the vacume pipe to the 1st turbo actuator? Parry_10
ok ill try and check the pipes ive noticed when the 1st turbo comes online i can hear a whine as well
Parry_10
the bov is definatley too quiet compared to what its usually like and then on the odd occasion it will sound right... 1st turbo is boosting at 0.55 bar (standard boost) and 0.72bar (high boost) if that helps.... Lee P
It's an ssqv, it has 2 valves inside. One opens at lower boost which is why it sounds different.
Parry_10
ok lee do you think the valve for the lower boost could be faulty then? because on lower boost it definatley sounds too quiet compared to what it did before- I dont think any of the pipes have any leaks
Lee P
I wouldn't have thought so, your probably just running less boost than before. You take it apart and inspect it though if needed.
Parry_10
update: I dont think it is a leaky bov as took it out today and the sound from it sounded normal again... and i got 0.6 bar of boost from the 1st turbo on stock boost which I guess is normal...
