Supra Gaz
I am selling my silver Supra on Pistonheads and Autotrader at the moment, i have had alot of responses which is brilliant, unfortunately so far 99 percent of them have been idiots emailing in broken English saying 'i buy your car, i pay you Paypal, I cannot come see as i work abroad', at first I thought, mmm maybe, i will give them the benefit of the doubt, but no, after doing a bit of digging its all a Paypal scam based in Nigeria, they 'pay' through Paypal, they collect the car and when you try to withdraw the money from Paypal it doesn't work, how Paypal allow this i dont know. I received 4 different emails from separate addresses just today with the same story! Please, just one normal person come and look at the car, test drive it, talk to me face to face, i will even haggle with you, i enjoy it! Ahh i feel better. Rant over.... Mistermann
I once sold a watch via ebay and subsequently paypal and a buyer accepted my buy it now price which was pretty hefty - I got all excited and then recieved a very official looking email from paypal saying that due to the large amount of money involved that they were holding the money until i provided a tracking number to prove that the item had been posted - with that they will release the money to me. I wouldnt have thought twice about it as the email looked 100% accurate, however I luckily called paypal to find out what details they needed at which I point i found out the whole thing was a scam and that paypal would never, under no circumstances hold money like that - there are some very clever people out there! Rob
Current advice is to accept cash or bankers draft ony, go to bank with the buyer and ensure cash / draft is "kosher" and accepted into your account, then go back to house and give them the keys.
