Kevin Huntley
Not done much with the Supra over the winter but finally got him out of hibernation and decided to increase the stopping power. I fitted a set of AP brakes on the front and powder coated/refurbished and refitted my UK 2 pots on the rear (Thanks to Chris Wilson for the Stainless Pistons, work a treat). Took around 2 ½ hours in total to fit the brakes on the four corners and bleed them up. I put some Ferodo DS2500 on the front and some new Endless SSS pads on the rear. I already had Braided lines all round. Took it out for a blast to bed the brakes in and after following the procedure I went out for some fun. The new brakes are awesome and stopping from 100 leptons + is no longer an issue. After not driving the car for a while I can't get over how fast it is, scared myself silly, can't beleive how hard I uesd to drive it...lol Must be an age thing! Think I may need a track day or something to get my confidence back... Here’s a few pic’s of the new setup. Rears Thanks Kevin Edited April 26, 2011 by Kevin Huntley (see edit history)
JamieP
Nice, you need to get out in the car some more Kev, Japfest?
Chris Wilson
One tip, if you take your rear UK calipers apart, do NOT lose the bolts, they are almost impossible to get in the correct thread pitch and length Toyota neither list nor sell them.... Kevin Huntley
Would love to come to Jap Fest but its a long way for me and I could probably go on Holiday for the cost of the fuel bill... Will try and make a few of the Santa Pod meets this year and a few other shows more local to me. Nice, you need to get out in the car some more Kev, Japfest? Kevin Huntley
Thanks again to Chris for sourcing the bolts and other ancilleries. Top tip if you strip anything down always built it back up straight away, don't leave it in a box in your garage or shed or workshop never to be found again..... One tip, if you take your rear UK calipers apart, do NOT lose the bolts, they are almost impossible to get in the correct thread pitch and length Toyota neither list nor sell them.... Kevin Huntley
Would love to keep the car but somethings got to give. Running 5 cars is just plain crazy and is costing me a small fortune. Im also very busy with work and have to go abroad a fair bit so hardly get to drive it. If the Supra does not sell I will have to look at putting the 350z up forsale and keeping the Supra. I would be really sad to see the supra go after 11 years ownership but I have literally only done around 30K in that time and in recent years its probably only been used to go to car shows and back... Is this still for sale then Kev or have you came to your senses lol.
Kevin Huntley
When is Supra Pod this year Jurgen? I set off to the last meet last year but turned back when I seen how bad the weather was. Hopefully the club can't be that unlucky again.... come to suprapod kev so we can show the car - (it needs to be seen in flesh).. first to see it will buy it.
