pauld36
im sorry if this is a dumbass question but ive gone big single and although hugely powerful it is suffering large lag. now im thinking about installing a smaller turbo[as well as ,not instead of] to reduce the lag,but i have a couple of questions 1.is it possible 2.has anyone here done this 3.what would be involved in the fitting most importantly would it work. thanks in advance

Homer
Look up compound charging, I think that's what you're suggesting. One of the US suppliers has a kit but I've not see any results from it..
pauld36
lol just googled compuond charging and boostlogic make a kit for the supra at a bargain $7000 . im obviously being naive but i thought it would be just like setting up a standard tt but with one big turbo and one little one.. johnny g
Then you need to fabricate the pipe work, buy the turbos, then have routing solenoinds - it's not easy at all, or everyone would be doing it.
Swampy442
Personally I have often pondered that, its such a common sense idea, but there must be a reason nobody has done it. Get a twin top mount manifold with a T4 footprint, say a T3 and a T51 kai job done.

No solenoids just wastegates like normal turbos
Bailey.
I believe bl now only supply and install that kit in house, they won't just supply, there is a thread on sf all about it, believe it was in the bl section.

It's not easy at all, you can't run different sized turbo's in parallel hence the rather complex and expensive kit.
pauld36
i know this is a word thats hated on here , but what about a progressive NOS system would that alleviate lag?
JamieP
Just buy a better turbo, how much bhp do you want?
Scott
What turbo are you running at the moment? Power figures? Just thinking that a more modern turbo might make a difference. 6765 DBB is proven to be good for a relatively easy 750hp while spooling silly quick. Not being obtuse just curious. Its just a turbo. Just have a pair of exterally gated turbos with appropriate wastegate settings et viola. pauld36
cant really justify buying new turbo as this is brand new from whifbitz,an im not after anymore power.when im driving a little lively its amazing power, but its just the initial acceleration, once its spooled up once, its fine keeping power through the gears,no lag at all,
DodgyRog
Best solution would be Supercharger to Turbo, but again not just an easy fix
