General Banter
Gaaaaaaaaah! I'm starting to get REALLY wound up by people price spamming on Autotrader to get their adverts into the top of the results. You see a car advertised for say £300 and when you read the text it says "Actual price is £3,000 NOT £300", it makes it practically impossible to use the site. I'm looking for a car that costs £250 or less to enter a charity banger rally and I spend so long sifting through spammed adverts that it's not even worth trying! And breathe. Swampy442
I know exactly what you mean, Im looking for a car as well. Even worse is youre looking for a car for 800 quid and the ad says **Not 800, 2300** Wtf?
Ian R
It's the mileage that winds me up. Either don't put it or put 120 instead of 120000 grrrrr !!!
BazzaAlpine
Complain? If autotrader get enough complaints then surely they will start tightening up the ads.
General Banter
Sent a really snotty email to them today suggesting a report advert button, if the ad is found out to be misleading then it's pulled with forfeiture of fees. They probably won't go for it, but it's worth a try anyway
Jamesy
The reason they do this is the price for a car under £1000 is only £9.99. If u price your car over a grand is £29.99. Annoying

Too true, there are loads and loads that say for instance 80 miles instead of 80000 to get higher in the listings, it's a real PITA

That probably counts in the OP's favour. These idiots are clearly trying to con Autotrader out of some extra revenue, and if there's anything that'll spur a company into action, it's lost revenue! Gaz6002
it's lost revenue! To be fair, Autotrader reported the other day it is seeing 1 billion page impressions each month. I wouldn't blame them if no-one there gives two flying badgers about twenty quid

marbleapple
that only £1,040,000 over 10 years Oh well if its only £1m then why bother? £100,000 a year is a lot of money and no sensible business wouldn't look to close a loophole that could save them that much.
