Wez
Hey All, Is there only two casings available for the MKIV? B03B = large casing A03B = Small casing If these are the only two casings ever seen on a MKIV what is required to swap from one to the other, is it just drive shafts or is a prop required as well? Are the small casings from NA auto/manuals the same as small casings from a TT auto/manual? How easy is it to swap over the driveshafts and diff? Thanks
j_jza80
Iirc facelift TTs use the small casing too.
Kirk
Facelift TT manuals do yes, pre facelift TT6 use the larger case. As far as i know all the smaller diffs on both TT and NA are the same casing i suspect you would need to change the prop shaft flange to adapt the different types of props there are. keron
only 2 size casings... early tt 6 speeds had a larger casing...later ones (facelift seemed to have smaller casings) auto jap imports all had smaller casings all nas had smaller casings all uk/euro had larger casing if intercahaging...props and shafts are needed...depending which way you went too...also noticed some nas have thinner driveshafts compared to tt
Wez
OK driveshafts is a given, whats the different props available?
Kirk
Na and TT props are of different thickness so i suspect the flange on the diff casing will be different. Also auto props are shorter than manuals i think
ray007
Sorry to highjack You may have seen my other thread, I known someone selling a 10bolt LSD and 12 bolt LSD without casings Not sure if I can use one of them say in my current non LSD smaller casing diff? I have a large diff casing in my 1996 RZ, I would like to fit a small casing from an auto NA, I would need driveshafts with ABS rings and possibly a prop, can you confirm? Which side driveshaft is shorter? Would it be possible to change the diff flange to something that would work with my current prop?
Chris Wilson
If you take the prop flange off you SHOULD fit a new crush tube and re set the preload on the pinion bearings. I think it's the RH drive shaft that differs in length. I may have what you need, drive shaft wise, but would need an overall length to confirm. My cars an N/A auto at the moment but Ive got a V161 gearbox and a torsen LSD diff from a N/A that I want to put in instead! But as above I'm having trouble with the prop that came with the V161 box fitting to the diff Do you know which parts of a prop I need to make these fit together? Wez
This is the diff I purchased from David2009 N/A 4.083 open diff and casing, suits N/A auto and N/A 5MT http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?206979-N-A-diff-n-s-drive-shaft-and-hub
Nodalmighty
NA Auto being replaced with TT auto to take advantage of Line pressure and Accumulator solenoids. Any gothcha's I should be aware of? I will have Soarer V8, TT and NA auto box and prop to mix and match bits from. Which differentials have Slippers in them?

Don't match with the codes above On the prop I've got it has PA93 on it! So that's a TT Auto prop!! And it should be a manual 6spd prop! Can anybody shed any light on this!? Terminator
Rear sections of the TT auto and six speed prop are the same, front sections are very different. Having never seen a six speed prop, before my build, I got ripped off twice on here buying so called manual set-ups which turned out to be auto's:(
