General Banter
Having an issue with my air con. When I try to fire it up I don't hear the compressor kick in like I would expect, I realise it could be low on coolant but I don't want to pay for a re-gas only to find out something more important is goosed! I've run the diagnostics test and I'm getting an alternate flash between the fresh air button (arrow through car) and the front window de-mist button (curved screen) and these flash only once in turn, I'm having trouble deciphering what this means from the diag chart. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

stevie_b
It's probably too low on refrigerant (but I haven't checked the error codes info in the FAQ so do that first). Lots of supras seem to have aircon systems with slow leaks. When the level is too low the system simply won't engage, to prevent damage I think. Unless you've had it refilled recently, get it refilled and get them to put a UV dye in the gas (most will do this anyway) so that leaks are easier to detect. It's usual to have to run the aircon for a bit every month or two to prevent leaks, even in winter.
