Diesel Fuel Additive (Reduce C02 Emmisions)

Recommended Posts

My diesel commuter is in for its MOT next week. It can run a bit dirty and I want to ensure that the emissions are as low as possible when it goes in.

I'm looking at additives and came across this, which seems to fit the bill:

Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing? Advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Theres quite a few products that do similar/same as that, but yes, I have used them.

On the day, add to tank which is near empty, add £10 fuel, then go for a blast up the M56 to get it working.

The trick with a diesel engine is to make sure its still warm when tested ;)

Yeah, that's my thinking, but I'll be dropped the car off at 08.30 for it to be tested at 16.00, which is a pain - still, I'll do what I can in the morning.

Which brand additives would you go for?

Matt, the company i work for sell a product called Cataclean, a couple of bottles of that should give the car a good clean out. We have had great customer feedback so far. I could do you a bottle or 2 for £12.50, usually £14.95. If you're interested in trying any, let me know.

What car is it dude? To be honest, give the thing a dam good spanking prior to going for a test, I can get 99.9% of cars through a diesel test by giving it a half mile blast, revving hard in second for example! Just be sure to check your oil level before doing it!

Cheers all,

I got some stuff from Halfords on Sat. Can't tell any difference but hopefully somethings happening in the C02 department!

MOT at 4 and have a good drive to the place so hopefully that should get things warm and running better.

Cheers Dan. Probably would have taken you up on that but not enough time to get delivered. Maybe next year!
