penguin
I think that was the missing link that they found though. I'm not a scientist, but science is based on finding facts and when something comes out as a theory.. it's a theory. When something is proven, it's a fact. They don't lie or fill in gaps with unknowns, they theorise and until it is proven they hang it on the "fiction" shelf. they do lie to fill in the gaps .... climate change emails from a few years ago is a v.good example. bear in mind, these scientists have a vested interest (money, fame etc) in "achieving results" and as they say.... every mortal has a price. Swampy442
why does man have to evolve from another species in the first place? Where else would he come from?
j_jza80
When is the Dajjal expected to arrive btw? He's just borded the underground at Turnpike Lane, heading for Cockfosters on the blue line, so anytime now

How much money do you think the Vatican has? How much money do you think the Churches raise each year? I only mention the Vatican and Churches as they are the only ones I have any information on. There was a report out about 15 years ago stating how the debt in the 3rd world could be wiped out entirely and every poor person in the 3rd world could be immunised and treated for the same ailments and afflictions that we do with one foul swoop from the vatican fortune. Strange that "God" wouldn't want that to happen. If you want to look at money spinners have a look closer to your faith. Scientists have to be results driven as they are forced to run on a shoestring for the best part.

Lbm
when you think of "god" - what's your understanding of him? When I was 10 years old, I thought he was a bloke in a cloud with a beard. When I was 20 years old, perhaps I began to think about him/it more as a metaphor for the universe itself. Nature if you will. And now...? It doesn't matter He's just borded the underground at Turnpike Lane, heading for Cockfosters on the blue line, so anytime now If there are leaves on the line, he may be a bit late. It's not easy being a public transport using anti-christ you know. Sharking is an excellent pass time

Matt H
well for starters, i don't think they have "day to day" plans, rather they play the long game... sometimes over months, other times over centuries. as for the dajjal, watch the "shadows in motion" vid on youtube and it'll give you a much better understanding of events leading upto to his arrival are I will watch that vid tonight when I'm home. To be fair, I did have a whopping big curry last Sat night and the following day I found one of Satan's demons in the toilet. If the Dajjal is anything as powerful as that, we're doomed! seba
UhOh this became a religious thread... For me being a fulltime atheist it is going to be hard not to offend anyone. But still if you're asking people's opinion i guess we all have the right to explain why we atheists don't believe in a book promoting self contradiction, written by a couple of scifi enthousiast a couple of thousands years ago sitting on a rock smoking pot laughing amongst themselfs "lol wouldn't it be funny if someday someone would actually believe this crap?". This without the lol offcourse as that's a modern expression, not sure about "crap". Should we believe in it because all the works of science cannot equal the wisdom of cattle-sacrificing primitives who thought every animal species in the world lived in walking distance of Noah's house? Or maybe because it is the word of god? but it's allways humans doing the talking! Or maybe because the farfetched myth of evolution and science has caused so many deaths and racism, genocide and wars, people being burned alive, discrimination, violence and torture,...? Oh no wait that was christianity again. Or pherhaps because a cosmic figure called Jesus who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...yea makes perfect sense. It's not that i hate Christianity, i just think the world would have been a a way better place without religion(and modern rap, where are the oldskooldays...) , christianity being the funiest one, people who don't want their beliefs laughed at shouldn't have a man in a robe inventing waterski's while the scifiwriters are watching. Blind fate is easy but i respect everyone's opinion but if i may quote Robert G.Ingersoll "a believer is a bird in a cage, a free thinker is an eagle". I don't know where everything came from or the world was born, no one does yet(untill proven..., a book without pictures or decent data that has been cutup, adjusted, rewritten, tipexed, and translated more times than there are actual languages on this planet is no proof), but my vote goes to the guys in the labcoats who don't expect me to get up early every sunday to overdress and apoligize for being human. I don't think he's lost the plot, science has no evidence or proof to explain what happend before the big bang. Regardless of evolution I still beleive there is a super natural force behind all of us. I'm enjoying this thread TBH it is good to see everyones views without going pyscho . Nick
also youtube "shadows in motion" -it's a documentary made around 20 years ago, but it's content is mind blowing. Just watched it on YouTube and the opening has a clip of 911 ? Guess it's been updated or there's a new one. Wasn't exactly impressed but from what I gather the Muslims will defeat the tryanny of the Free Masons? Having lived under Sharia law I'll take my chances with the shapeshifers. Al Massey
I love reading these threads, get some good views and opinions as long as it doesnt get nasty UhOh this became a religious thread... For me being a fulltime atheist it is going to be hard not to offend anyone. Im the same so hopefully no one will take offence to my view Im Atheist for a reason, i used to go to church and ive read alot on religion when i was younger but religion couldnt fill in the blanks and it in itself is full of holes I believe religion is just an excuse to set morals and a basic law and give people false hope as otherwise our lives are just empty just look at the 10 commandments SIX: 'You shall not murder.' SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' EIGHT: 'You shall not steal. Just basic morals guidence And then ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' Well every religion is breaking this commandment with the false idols in every church And plus if GOD made man in his own image that just proves that GOD was a man and he obviously favoured man over woman i dont get the whole church thing either, why go to a place to worship him when he is all around us,inside us and with us all through everything? whats the point And GOD forgives all who repent, well why have any commandments then if all i need to do is repent and all is forgiven Every time a scientist or someone tries to say Evolution religous people go on about "PROOF" and say it was GOD who did this and that and science is just make believe well how about you prove that GOD did this and that Theres more proof to where we came from, solid hard proof that evolution exists on this planet than there is of a person in a book I do have more things id like to say but its late and im still at work and i really hope no one is offended by my views and would welcome a rebuttal
Konrad
i dont get the whole church thing either, why go to a place to worship him when he is all around us,inside us and with us all through everything? whats the point I can help with this one - it's because human is group animal, noone really like to be an outcast or alone That's why some people waste a lot of cash and drink beer in the pub, when exactly same beer can be fetched in Tesco for 1/3 of price - you could drink it home...
