GM Z22SE crank pulley bolt thread direction

Recommended Posts

A relative has a zafira with the 2.2 vauxhall engine in.

He's trying to replace the cam chain but is struggling to remove the crank pulley bolt.

After popping round to help him, and struggling for 30 minutes, he then mentioned that he thought it was a left hand thread.

However I couldn't get it to budge either way, but it certainly put enough doubt in my mind!

Does anyone know for sure if the thread is normal / left hand? I imagine it would be the same for pretty much all GM motors???

i'm sure they are a normal thread they are just really tight if it's the same as other vauxhall with chains has probably never been off , my advice would be to take the small plate off of the bottom of the gear box and jam the flywheel then use a big bar to remove it. just joined myself recently hence the late reply but hope it helps
